Staining & Accenting

How it’s done:

Concrete staining is a transformative process that breathes new life into dull, gray concrete surfaces, turning them into stunning works of art. By infusing color and depth, concrete staining enhances both the aesthetics and durability of concrete.

The process typically involves the following steps:

  • Surface Preparation: The concrete surface is thoroughly cleaned, removing any dirt, grease, or existing coatings. This step ensures proper adhesion for the stain.
  • Staining, Accent Colouring, or BOTH: Your selected colour will then be applied to the surface in a single, even coat. Depending on your concrete surface and the selected colour, some accenting will occur. This means that the lower areas in the texture will take on a darker colour, while the highs will retain the original concrete colour. Solid colour stains will typically have less accenting than the accent colours. We can also apply an accent colour over top of a solid-colour stain.
  • Drying: The stained surface is then allowed to dry completely. This step is critical to ensure a proper bond with the sealer.
  • Sealing: A high-quality concrete sealer is applied to protect the stained surface from moisture, stains, and UV damage. Sealers can provide a glossy or matte finish, depending on your preference. Our recommendation is a combo acrylic and molecular penetrating sealer.

Concrete staining offers a myriad of colors and design options, making it a versatile choice for both interior and exterior spaces. It’s a cost-effective way to revitalize concrete floors, patios, driveways, and more, providing a durable and attractive finish that can last for years to come. Whether aiming for a modern, industrial look or a rustic, aged appearance, concrete staining is a skilled art that can truly transform your concrete surfaces into eye-catching masterpieces.
